Trans Pride is Today in San Diego!!!!! Yay!!!!! Whooohooooo!!!!!

I'd be lying if I said I was as excited about Trans Pride as the title of my post suggests.

Truth is - I'm exhausted.

There was so much violence in the world this week.

So far, I've avoided actually physically being in harm's way.

There are so many in mourning for friends or family dead due to report after report of mass violence.

I wouldn't mind having some recovery time - alone or at the gym or cleaning the house or puttering in the garden or prepping for Shabbat.

I'm nervous and scared.

I don't want to be run over or shot at or even yelled at or beaten up or in the way of a car bomb

 - for being me

or

- for being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I will go to Trans Pride anyway.

I will sit at my table

Behind the stickers I've carefully designed to spread EMPOWERMENT

and

Near the books I've brought to show POSSIBILITIES for education

I will go in celebration of showing up to support people being who they are

letting their deepest selves SHINE through.

I will go in SOLIDARITY

and in LOVE

and in APPRECIATION

of all the hard work clients do to figure out how to best be PRESENT with themselves and in the world

for the organizers who WORKED so hard to make a safe space

for COMMUNITY

for the people who need to know a trans pride EXISTS

even here in San Diego

even if they can't themselves attend

for Jewish people to know there is someone there talking about being Jewish and transgender

I will go to show that we are not going anywhere.

If you decide to attend, please stop by my table and say hello. I'd love to give you a sticker and support you for coming out to Pride today.
